June 2011
Last month, Delta debuted a new song in the form of a duet with American singer
Michael Bolton, named I’m Not Ready, from Michael’s upcoming album,
Gems - The Duets Collection. The pair performed the song live on the
American version of Dancing With The Stars, and Delta also performed the
song (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman when British singer Adele,
who had originally planned to sing the track, had to pull out due to problems
with her voice. Delta has also recently lent her support to the 1billionhungry
project, and features in a public service announcement to help end hunger. More
information can be found at
www.endinghunger.org.
Delta’s personal life has also attracted much attention in recent months, as she
announced the end of her engagement to Brian McFadden in April.

Firstly, a very merry Christmas and a happy new year from Planet Delta!
In the past few months, Delta has been involved in a few appearances and
performances, including performing at Virgin Blue’s 10th anniversary in
September and at the Starhill Gallery in Malaysia in December. Delta has also
recorded two new songs: Little Drummer Boy for the 2010 edition of the
Salvation Army’s Spirit of Christmas album, and a duet of the song
Breathe, Dream, Pray, Love with Canadian singer Mark Masri for American
pianist Jim Brickman’s new album, Home.
It has also been revealed that Delta
is providing the voice for Little Beatrice in the upcoming Christmas film,
Santa’s Apprentice, due for release next year. As well as Delta’s fourth studio
album, which is expected in 2011, a collection of Delta’s previous three albums
and three DVDs will be released in January. These are entitled The Albums
Collection and The Visual Collection, and more information about these releases
can be found on Delta’s revamped
official
website.

It has been announced that Delta will be joining several stars to take part in
this year’s Stand Up To Cancer event, which will take place on 10th September in
the US. As a survivor of cancer, Delta has shared a personal account of her own
story on the SU2C website
here.
This month also sees the release of
Delta’s duet with Brian McFadden, Mistakes, on 17th September. The song
debuted on the ARIA charts at #83 last week and the music video, featuring an
updated single mix, has just been
released.
For the past few months, Delta has been writing and recording for
her fourth studio album, which she describes as earthy and going back to her
roots. Delta has also taken the time to record two segments for TV show
Getaway, following the Twilight trail and Seattle’s music scene. In
addition, she performed Leona Lewis’s I See You (Theme from Avatar) at
the ASCAP Film and Television Awards in June. At the end of May, Delta’s
Commonwealth Games theme, Together We Are One, was performed on
American Idol by their previous winners and contestants at Simon Cowell’s final
show.

This month Delta rejoined Italian singer Andrea Bocelli as a special guest on
his Asian tour, performing in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipei and Singapore. The
two duetted on The Prayer again, as well as the operatic Canto della
Terra and Elvis Presley’s hit Can’t Help Falling In Love.
Three
albums featuring Delta related songs have also recently been released. Firstly,
Brian McFadden’s third solo album Wall Of Soundz, featuring a duet with
Delta on the song Mistakes, was released in April and debuted at #27 on
the ARIA charts. Delta’s song Woman from the album Delta has also
been recorded by American singer Toni Braxton and appears on her sixth album
Pulse, which was released this month and debuted at #9 on the US Billboard
charts.
Finally, Celine Dion has recently released a DVD and live album of her Taking
Chances World Tour, which features Eyes On Me, the song co-written by
Delta, as well as the original version of The Prayer with Andrea Bocelli.

It has
been revealed that Delta has collaborated with Brian McFadden again on a new
song called Mistakes, which will appear on Brian’s upcoming album,
Wall Of Soundz. Another collaboration which happened this month was when

at the Australian launch of Michael’s
This Is It DVD launch.

Yesterday, Delta gave a short interview with Ronan Keating on UK radio station
Magic FM, talking about her new album. The interview can be listened to in the
Downloads
section. This interview followed several tweets from Delta about her
plans to definitely release and tour in the UK for the next album. Delta will be
moving temporarily to the US to write and record for this album. Delta has also
been handpicked by the Jackson estate to perform at the Australian launch of
Michael Jackson’s
This Is It DVD. She will join Guy Sebastian, Kenny Ortega and Jackie
Jackson at the event this Tuesday. Earlier in the year, Delta met with royalty
when she attended a royal lunch with Prince William during his tour of
Australia.
Recently, I have been making several mashups of Delta songs
with artists including Alexandra Burke, Beyoncé and Girls Aloud. If you
haven’t
already done so, check them out at Planet Delta’s
YouTube channel.
Finally, congratulations to Delta for having Australia’s
highest selling album of the past decade,
Innocent Eyes, and also for passing her driving test!

Earlier this month, Delta joined Italian singer Andrea Bocelli as a special
guest on four shows of his Christmas concert tour around North America. The two
performed duets on Blue Christmas, The Christmas Song and The
Prayer. During this tour, Delta fell ill and was forced to postpone her own
Christmas concert at the Sydney Opera House to 24th December. Fortunately, Delta
recovered and performed an impressive show on Christmas Eve.
In November,
Delta also hosted the Nickelodeon Kids’
Choice Awards with Joel and Benji Madden from American band Good Charlotte, with
whom she also performed a medley of In This Life and Good Charlotte’s
single Dance Floor Anthem.
Planet Delta hopes you all enjoyed your Christmas and wishes you all a
happy new year.

Delta has announced that she will be performing a special one-off concert at the
Sydney Opera House on 6th December. During this show, Delta will be singing both
Christmas carols and her own songs. Fans will be given the chance to vote for
their favourite Christmas carol, which may then form part of the setlist.
The
long-awaited DVD release of Delta’s
second national tour, the Believe Again Tour, took place a few weeks ago,
and became her third #1 DVD. The DVD features the full concert as well as behind
the scenes footage and stage visuals, and comes with a live CD of the show.
As well as writing for the new album, with talents such as Lucie Silvas, Delta
featured as a guest judge during the Sydney auditions of Australian Idol
this year. Her appearance can be found on Planet Delta’s
YouTube channel
here
or in the
Downloads
section.
Finally, as you may have noticed, Planet Delta has changed its host. Since the
beginning in 2004, Planet Delta has been hosted by GeoCities, however, later
this month GeoCities is due to shut down, so our new host is Sitesled. You can
reach the main site at
http://planetdelta.sitesled.com
and the archived 2004 and 2005 sites can be found at

In April 2004, Planet Delta was launched and now we are 5 years old! Thank
you to everybody who has visited the site. I’m so sorry about the lack of
updates, but this news entry will give a brief account of the Delta events from
the past few months.
In December, Delta performed three songs at the annual
Carols In The Domain in her hometown of Sydney. These were O Holy
Night, Oh Happy Day (with Brian McFadden) and Silent Night. In
January and February, Delta embarked on her second concert tour, the Believe
Again Tour, around theatres in Australia. The tour featured most of the hits
from Delta’s
three albums, as well as various covers including That’s
Freedom, Queen Of The Night and Sweet Dreams. A DVD of the
tour is expected to be released later in the year. In March, Delta presented an
award with Brian at the MTV Australia Music Awards and was scheduled
to perform the national anthem at the Australian Grand Prix but pulled out at
the last minute after complaining of a sore throat. Delta has also been recently
appearing in several advertisements in Australia, including So Good, Sunsilk and
Nintendo Wii.
To bridge the gap between Delta’s
third and fourth album, which is not expected until next year, a 2-disc package
featuring the Innocent Eyes and Mistaken Identity albums is to be
released on 25th April.
And finally, to celebrate Planet Delta reaching 5
years, I have set up a Twitter account at
www.twitter.com/planetdelta.

Recently, Delta has recorded a duet with American singer, LeAnn Rimes, for the
5th Anniversary edition of the Wicked soundtrack, which was released on
28th October. The song is called For Good, for which the lyrics have been
added to the site. Last month, Delta rang the opening bell for the New York
Stock Exchange on Tuesday 14th October, the day after the largest one day Dow
point gain ever. Delta has also been in Australia, promoting Sanitarium So Good
products (www.deltasogoodrem.com.au),
as well as taking up the role of Patron of a new cancer centre at St. Vincent’s
Hospital in Sydney. This week, the
music video for In This Life is the free music video of the week on the
US version of iTunes, so get it while you can.
Congratulations go to Delta
for winning the award for Highest Selling Album at this year’s
ARIA awards, and also the World Music Award for Highest Selling Australian
Artist.

This week, the fourth single from the Delta album debuted at #13 on the
ARIA charts, reaching #1 on the physical singles chart, but not appearing in the
top 50 digital singles chart. This followed three instore appearances, in which
Delta performed In This Life, Believe Again and I Can’t
Break It To My Heart, as well as spending hours signing autographs for fans.
Delta also appeared on Rove Live and Sunrise, promoting the single and the
Believe Again Tour, for which tickets were released last week.
Earlier
this month, Delta also gave an interview for Britain’s
The Richard Arnold Show on GMTV, talking about releasing in the US,
although gave no confirmation for a European release as of yet.

In This Life was officially released to Hot AC radio earlier this month,
and the song has been received very well. Delta’s
new US website is now up and running, and includes a US blog from Delta as well
as stunning new pictures from her US photoshoot. This week also saw the debut of
the US video for In This Life on Universal Music Group’s YouTube channel.
Although the US release date for the album has been pushed back to 15th July,
Delta looks to be a growing success in America.
